Sarabeshwarar (also known as Sharabha or Sarabeswarar) is a powerful and protective form of Lord Shiva. According to Hindu mythology, after Lord Vishnu took the form of Narasimha (the man-lion incarnation) to destroy the demon Hiranyakashipu, Narasimha’s rage became uncontrollable. To calm him, Lord Shiva manifested as Sarabha, a part-lion and part-bird deity — symbolizing supreme control and divine protection.
In this form, Shiva is depicted with three eyes, wings, and multiple arms, often subduing the fierce Narasimha, representing the victory of peace over aggression and divine balance over chaos. Sarabeshwarar is worshipped for protection, removal of negativity, and restoration of harmony.
